And that disconnect between the teaching and your reality reveals something deeper: the law of attraction alone doesn’t work when your nervous system is broadcasting scarcity.
True abundance manifestation requires understanding how your nervous system frequency blocks or allows financial flow. It’s not about positive thinking drowning out reality. It’s about shifting the deepest level of your system so that abundance can actually be received.
Why Scarcity Mindset Is Actually a Nervous System State

Scarcity mindset isn’t a thought problem. It’s a nervous system state. When you’re broke, your nervous system isn’t in an imaginary state of danger—it’s perceiving actual danger. Your amygdala (threat detection center) is firing because there’s a real survival threat. Your body has activated survival mode: fight, flight, or freeze.
In survival mode, your nervous system does something intelligent: it shuts down non-essential functions. Creativity, intuition, risk-taking, long-term thinking—all disabled. Why? Because when a predator is chasing you, you don’t need to be creative. You need to run. Your system is doing exactly what it evolved to do.
But here’s the problem: abundance requires precisely the functions your nervous system has disabled. Spotting opportunities requires creativity and intuition. Taking action on opportunities requires confidence and risk-tolerance. Both are unavailable in survival mode.

Let’s be clear about what’s happening physically:
- Survival mode frequency: High cortisol, elevated heart rate, narrow focus, reactive decision-making, scarcity perception. Your body is literally flooded with chemicals that prepare you for immediate threats.
- Abundance frequency: Low cortisol, coherent heart rate, expansive thinking, creative problem-solving, opportunity perception. Your body is bathed in chemicals that support learning, connection, and risk-taking.
These are opposite states. You cannot be in both simultaneously. So the first rule of manifesting money when you’re broke is not to think your way out—it’s to regulate your nervous system out of survival mode. Until you do, manifestation practices won’t work because the frequency underneath them is broadcasting scarcity, not abundance.
The Identity-Level Frequency Block
Beyond the nervous system state, there’s another layer: identity-level frequency. Your deepest belief about who you are broadcasts like a radio signal. This belief determines what you magnetize into your life.
Many people carry an identity-level frequency that says:

- “I’m not smart/lucky/connected enough to be wealthy”
These aren’t thoughts you repeat. They’re deeper beliefs embedded in your nervous system, usually from childhood experiences or family messaging. Your parents struggled financially, so you inherited their frequency. Or you were taught that wanting money is wrong. Or you saw wealthy people treated as corrupt, so your nervous system rejected that frequency to stay aligned with your family’s values.
Whatever the origin, this identity-level frequency is the actual attractor. It’s deeper than thoughts or visualizations. You can affirm “I’m abundant” all day, but if your identity-frequency says “I’m a struggling person,” that’s the frequency that magnetizes your actual life. The nervous system goes with the identity.
How to Manifest from a Broke Position: Real Frequency Work
Step 1: Stabilize Your Nervous System Out of Survival Mode
Before you try any manifestation work, your nervous system needs to know it’s safe enough to dream. This doesn’t mean your financial situation has to change first. It means you need to send strong signals to your nervous system that you have immediate safety.
Practices: Cold water exposure (Wim Hof method), grounding to earth, heart coherence breathing, time in nature, physical safety rituals (locking your door, checking your funds realistically—not obsessively). These signal to your nervous system: “We have enough to survive right now. You can relax slightly.”
Interestingly, one of the fastest ways to shift survival-mode frequency is to give money away—even small amounts. This signals to your nervous system: “We have abundance, not scarcity.” Giving $5 when you only have $50 is counterintuitive, but it literally shifts your nervous system frequency from scarcity to abundance. It’s a powerful signal.
Step 2: Identify and Reprogram Your Money Identity
What is your deepest belief about money and yourself? Write it down. “I struggle financially.” “Money is hard.” “I’ll never be wealthy.” “Rich people are corrupt, so I can’t be rich.”
Once identified, you can’t think your way out of it. You have to rewire it at the nervous system level. This requires:
Exposure work: Spend time around people with abundance frequency. Watch how they move, what they believe is possible, how they talk about money. Your nervous system will entrain to their frequency if you spend enough time in their field.
Visualization + emotion: Not airy-fairy visualization. See yourself with a specific amount of money, and feel the nervous system shift that comes with it. How would your body relax if you had $10,000? Feel that physical relief. Your nervous system doesn’t care about words; it cares about the felt sense. The emotion is what reprograms the frequency.
Identity shifts: Start identifying differently. “I am someone who makes smart financial decisions.” “I am someone money flows to.” “I am worthy of abundance.” These aren’t affirmations to repeat mindlessly. They’re conscious identity shifts. Live them slightly—make one financial decision this week as if you already held that identity. Your nervous system learns through action.
Step 3: Take Action From Abundance Frequency (Not Desperation)
This is where most manifestation teachings fail. They say “the universe will provide” but don’t mention that the universe provides through action. You have to take action. But the frequency of your action matters.
Desperation frequency action: You’re so afraid you take any job, follow any lead, say yes to anything. You broadcast desperation and often attract exploitative situations. You end up in jobs that pay badly because you’re acting from scarcity.
Abundance frequency action: You take aligned action toward opportunities that match your values and abilities. You’re selective. You know you’re valuable. You say no to bad deals. This frequency attracts better opportunities because you broadcast your own value.
Practice: This week, identify one action toward income (start a side project, reach out to a contact, learn a new skill, apply for a better position). But do it from abundance frequency, not desperation. Feel the difference in your body.
Step 4: Recognize Micro-Abundance (Frequency Training)
Your nervous system learns frequency through consistent signals. If you’re broke, your nervous system is locked into a scarcity signal. To shift it, you need to notice moments of abundance—however small—and consciously register them as evidence that abundance is possible.
Micro-abundance examples: A friend pays for your coffee. A unexpected refund arrives. You find $5. You get work done faster than expected. Someone compliments your work. Someone offers help. These aren’t magical; they’re normal human moments. But your nervous system registers them. When you consciously notice and appreciate these moments, you’re teaching your nervous system: “Abundance is real. It’s happening. We receive.”
Do this daily: identify three moments of abundance or received value, however small. Feel gratitude for them. This trains your nervous system frequency toward recognition of abundance.
The Money Blocks That Never Get Addressed
There are specific money blocks that keep people broke, and they run deeper than mindset:
- Unworthiness at identity level: “I don’t deserve this much.” You manifest abundance, then unconsciously sabotage it because your frequency says you don’t deserve it.
- Money = abandonment: If your parents gave you money but it came with emotional strings (control, criticism, expectation), your nervous system associates money with violation. You unconsciously avoid it.
- Money = betrayal: You’ve been financially betrayed. Your nervous system learned that having money means being robbed or used. So you unconsciously stay broke to stay safe.
- Money = moral compromise: You witnessed or were taught that making money requires compromising your values. So you stay poor to stay good. Your frequency rejects wealth as incompatible with integrity.
These blocks require deep frequency work, often with a practitioner trained in somatic release or trauma-informed work. Affirmations won’t touch them. Understanding your family’s relationship to money is essential. Understanding your own nervous system blocks is non-negotiable.
